The man who blamed Dr. Loomis for his daughter's murder.
Sheriff Leigh Brackett is a character in the Halloween franchise, created by screenwriters John Carpenter and Debra Hill. He first appears in Halloween (1978) as the father of Annie Brackett and the sheriff of Haddonfield. In the original film, he ends his involvement with assisting Dr. Loomis after identifying his daughter's dead body, blaming Loomis for her murder and going home to inform his wife. In the remake (2007), Annie tells Michael that her "daddy is the sheriff," and in the sequel (2009), Sheriff Lee Brackett finds his daughter's body after Michael's rampage and angrily blames Loomis for Annie's death. He later uses a rifle to shoot Michael after Loomis lures him into view, leading to Michael's death at Laurie's hands.

After Michael Myers kills Annie, Brackett identifies her dead body and ends his involvement with assisting Dr. Loomis, blaming Loomis for her murder. He goes home to inform his wife of the news, leaving Deputy Gary Hunt in charge to help Loomis. In Halloween II (1981), Annie's corpse appears briefly, and a grieving Brackett is shown. In the remake (2007), Annie taunts Michael by remarking that her "daddy is the sheriff," inadvertently attracting his brutality. In the sequel (2009), Sheriff Lee Brackett finds his daughter's body on the bathroom floor after Michael stabs her repeatedly off-screen. As in the original film's sequel, Brackett angrily blames Loomis for Annie's death and Laurie's jeopardy. Brackett later uses a rifle to shoot Michael after Dr. Loomis lures Michael into view, which leads to Michael's death at the hands of Laurie. In the comic Halloween Autopsis, Brackett still blames Dr. Loomis for Annie's murder fifteen years later. However, in the online short story Sam, Brackett visits an older, sick Loomis and tells Marion, "Send him... send him my best wishes."
