Reader's Guide
Lynda Van Der Klok appears in the 2007 Rob Zombie film Halloween as a supporting character and friend of Laurie Strode. She is one of three teenage girls preparing for Halloween in Haddonfield, Illinois. Her role is brief but significant as one of Michael Myers' victims on Halloween night. Lynda's death occurs at Michael's abandoned childhood home, the same house where he murdered his family as a ten-year-old in 1990. She meets her boyfriend Bob Simms there, and Michael attacks them both. Bob is stabbed, and Lynda is strangled. This sequence mirrors elements from the original 1978 film but is set in the context of Zombie's expanded backstory for Michael. Unlike the original film where Lynda is a more prominent friend, in this version she is one of several victims Michael claims as he makes his way toward Laurie. Her death, along with those of Annie Brackett and Laurie's parents, builds toward the final confrontation between Michael, Laurie, and Dr. Loomis at the Doyle residence and later at the Myers home.
